About the Designer
Adan Ballou is a functional artist whose focus is leather bags and purses. As Winner of the 2016 ADEx hosted in Berlin and the 2019 'Best Handmade Handbag' in NYC, he has been internationally recognized for his creativity. Adan lives on a small acreage in the middle of the Canadian prairies; "I like them open spaces, I have enough room for all my big ideas". Here he explores the luxuries of integrity & authenticity crafting his designs as symbols for these altruistic principles.
Eldon Hagglund was Adan's uncle and was the first Canadian fashion designer to apprentice for Christian Dior in Paris. He won this opportunity in a competition hosted by the Design Institute of Canada
Eldon's fluid lines & bright color contrasts where some of Adam's first impressions of art & design.
Adan says "I sometimes think that 'Eldon Hagglund' is the best answer to the question “Why is some straight white guy in the middle of nowhere making handbags?”
