Unseen Forces

The whole fuckin universe is a bunch of stuff held together by invisible forces. Astrophysicists use their knowledge of gravity & chemistry in their study of celestial bodies. Doctors use their understanding of biology & physiology to save a life's force while Chemists use their knowledge of chemical bonds to make the medicine to maintain it.  Electrical engineers & computer programers leverage their comprehension of electricity & logic to build new tools which see deeper into these forces of nature & leverage their capacities. The Atomic physicist might use these tools to study the Strong nuclear force that holds the subatomic world together. All these studies explore different dimensions of existence, all examining in great detail the patterns that unseen forces make with all the stuff in their respective domains.

A quote from the most illustrious Jedi Sage Obi Wan Kenobi is appropriate here:

“It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.”

Mystics have long used allegory & symbolism to explain the spiritual dimensions of the psyche. They use the physical dimensions of Nature as a mirror to reflect or echo those patterns found in the Metaphysical universe, which is to say we can draw parallels between them. We find examples of this energy manifested in art & design, in music, literature & film, dance, sports, & culinary arts. In everyday life we can see what the whole spectrum of human emotion moves us to do.

The dimensions of spirituality predate all the aforementioned because the inner world of our psyche is far more real than any technical explanation can satisfy. Look what love has built & prejudice has ruined to see evidence enough of this universal truth. Intuition has taught us that how we love holds us together and how we hate pushes us apart. In the dimensions of the psyche, ideas are the stuff & the feeling is the force that moves it. 

The Wright Brothers demonstrated that man could overcome the obstacle of the skys. History speculates that Vikings did the same for the open oceans as the Apollo missions did for space. Currie for Medicine, Einstein for Physics, Virtual Reality & the Internet, & all the prophets of spirituality, all have been explorers of worlds governed by forces just outside our understanding. They demonstrated the existence of other dimensions, offering new perspectives of the world complete with their own promise & peril. The common metric being a deeper regard of the force enables us to harness it in ways we cannot yet imagine.

To paraphrase Obi Wan again

“Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view. The truth is often what we make of it; we hear what we want to hear, believe what we want to believe.”

Some great real world examples of this are beer goggles, tunnel vision, prejudice, stereotypes, tribalism, a microscope or telescope, your very own expectations. This observation led to the development of the Scientific Method. It instructs us to carefully observe with rigorous skepticism and without conjecture given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation. A situation best exemplified by the difference between hearing & listening, looking & seeing and stated as “Assumption is the mother of all fuckups”

Fortunately, the scientific method provides us with the alternative of Approximations. A seeker of truth need only accept that their observations are only approximations to the true nature of things. because the closer you look, the less you see of everything else. The Nature of perspective is one of its many paradoxes. A perfect environment for curiosity takes comfort in the knowledge that the only safe assumption is that you only see part of the picture. Then a psyche can see things that have no image and will them to move.

So remember, feelings put the FUN in the Fundamental Forces,
